Whether you accept insurance or not…this invaluable Complimentary Tele-Forum will help you learn new strategies you can implement in your practice to help you save time, and create and keep more income, and help more clients.

During the Tele-Forum You Will Discover…

How to avoid the most common – and costly — mistake therapists make when dealing with insurance

How recent legislation (parity laws and health care reform) may affect your practice

How to turn first-time callers into clients – even if you aren’t on their health plan

How to join – and sell yourself to – health plans, since many are full

A word-for-word script that instantly removes all traces of tension around “selling” and gives you complete permission to openly share your services with a potential client

How to be perfectly positioned for purposeful profits during any season or economy

How to create your managed care exit plan to safely and securely transition your practice to private pay

ABCT, Nov 18 - 21, San Francisco

The 44th Annual ABCT Convention, “Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: Unifying Diverse Disciplines With a Common Thread,” comes to San Francisco, Nov 18 – 21, 2010.

The theme of the 44th Annual Convention, “Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: Unifying Diverse Disciplines With a Common Thread,” is intended to emphasize the relevance of cognitive-behavioral theories across varied topics and disorders and across diverse health- and mental-health-related professions and disciplines. While there are many specialties within the fields of physical and mental health, our shared understanding of the importance of applying evidence-based cognitive behavioral practices is a common thread that joins us together.

Clearly, this is a message that resonated strongly with ABCT members. We received 1,965 submissions this year, many of which were in areas that had been underrepresented in the past. The 2010 ABCT program schedule is packed with diverse offerings in every time slot, so it is recommended that members use the ABCT Itinerary Planner, located on the ABCT website (www.abct.org/conv2010), to plan their daily schedule online and in advance of the conference so that they can take full advantage of this year’s exciting and innovative presentations and addresses.

Mindfulness--in person--October 6, 2010

Press release from my inbox. See you there:

Jon Kabat-Zinn, best-selling author and authority on Mindfulness and Integrative Medicine, at UCLA Royce Hall, October 6, 2010 to kick off National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD, one of the world’s preeminent authorities on Mindfulness and Integrative Medicine and one of the first to conduct actual clinical trials on the use of meditation techniques to cure pain, anxiety, stress and illness is coming to Los Angeles to do a benefit for the LA County Affiliate of Susan Koman Race for the Cure.

Dr. Kabat-Zinn, Professor of Medicine emeritus at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, studied with Zen Masters and was a founding member of the Cambridge Zen Center, before the Buddhist teachings led him to medicine and the creation of a technique he called Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR).

MBSR, which, as Dr. Kabat-Zinn told the LA Times, brought “the heart of Buddhist meditation without the Buddhism into the mainstream of Western medicine,” contributed to a growing movement of mindfulness in institutions such as hospitals, schools, corporations, prisons and professional sports organizations. At UMass Medical School, Dr. Kabat-Zinn founded the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society, and the world-renowned Stress Reduction Clinic.

Over 200 medical centers and clinics nationwide and abroad now use the MBSR model.

The New York Times best-selling author of Full Catastrophe Living and Wherever You Go, There You Are, Dr. Kabat-Zinn was featured in Bill Moyers’ PBS Special and book, Healing and the Mind. He serves on the Board of the Mind and Life Institute, which organizes dialogues between the Dalai Lama and western scientists and scholars to promote ways of understanding the mind, emotion, and reality.

Dr. Kabat-Zinn’s appearance at Royce Hall is part of The Lynn Lectures and kicks off National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Maria Shriver is the event’s honorary chairperson.

Event Information:
