History was made in 2010 as WTCI readers went to the virtual polls to decide the best-ever therapy books in two categories.

The question: “What therapy books have had the biggest impact on the way you practice? What books do you most often, and most confidently, recommend to your clients?”

The nomination list was long. The vote was hard-fought. Here are the results:

BEST-EVER THERAPY BOOK – FOR THERAPISTS

The Gift of Therapy, by Irvin Yalom

BEST EVERY THERAPY BOOK – FOR EVERYONE

Man’s Search for Meaning, by Victor Frankl

In both categories, there were strong seconds.

RUNNER-UP – FOR THERAPISTS

Motivational Interviewing, by William Miller and Stephen Rollnick

RUNNER-UP – FOR EVERYONE

Wherever You Go, There You Are, by Jon Kabat-Zinn

Congratulations everyone. Thanks for voting and reading. Maybe an online book club soon (please write if that’s of interest).

The complete nomination lists are on WTCI here. All titles are also listed and available at the Where the Client Is (Amazon) Bookstore.
